Marcille M. Kent, 93, of Fayette, and formerly of Hawkeye, died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye with Rev. Jim Harbaugh officiating.  Interment will follow at Hawkeye Cemetery. Visitation will  precede the funeral service at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.. Memorials may be made in Marcille’s name to Palmer Hospice in West Union or Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. 

Marcille Marie Kent daughter of William and Lizzie (Deterding) Schroeder was born September 30, 1924 in rural Frederika Township, Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, Iowa. Marcille received her education at the Frederika Township Public School. Prior to her marriage she worked at Kramer Produce in Tripoli. On March 23, 1947, Marcille was united in marriage to Kenneth William Kent, Jr. at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, Iowa. They were blessed with five children. Marcille and Kenny farmed near Eldorado, Iowa until 1952 when they moved to a farm SW of Hawkeye. They continued to farm there until their retirement in 1988, when they moved to Hawkeye. Marcille was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, Iowa and the Martha Circle. Marcille and Kenny enjoyed playing cards and were involved with several card clubs in the community. Together they took numerous trips to the East Coast, West Coast, Florida, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Nashville, Branson, Texas and an oversea trip to Europe where they visited cities in Germany, France, Luxemburg and Belgium.

Marcille is survived by her daughters,  Kitty Baade, Fort Dodge, Karen (Randy) Wilbur, Oelwein and Kay (Mike) Meyer, Oelwein; two daughters-in-law, Kay Kent of Hawkeye and Teri (Dean) Brockway of West Union; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Wilbert Huebner; sisters-in-law, Jane Buls and Janet (Bud) Coon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marcille was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Amanda (Bock) Schroeder, husband, Kenneth Kent, Jr.; sons, Ronald Kent and Brian Kent; son-in-law, David Baade; infant grandson, Joshua Brian Kent; sisters Florence Carlson and Irene Huebner.
